It’s rare that a new Burgundy domaine causes us to stop in awe. That’s exactly how we felt tasting Heitz-Lochardet for the first time.
These are intense, focused and painstakingly refined white Burgundies. There’s a striking complexity of minerality and racy brightness with layers of citrus and flowers. The combination of depth and poise is extraordinary.
Unsurprisingly, Heitz-Lochardet's Perrières leads the charge.
I'm very happy to offer Heitz-Lochardet's 2016 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières for $139.95 on bottles and $134.95 in 3-packs.
Meursault doesn’t have any Grand Crus, but there’s no doubt that Perrières can rival Grand Crus from other villages. For Chardonnay, this is a very special place. The wines are deeply complex with a riveting tension, intensity and refined elegance.
Heitz-Lochardet's style dovetails beautifully with Perrières' signature. Their Perrières is incredibly focused with a driving, finely etched minerality, and gorgeous finesse.
The 2016 Perrières is saturating, laser-like, and boasts a tremendous amount of energy. Heitz-Lochardet produced some of my favorite wines of the 2016 vintage. The vintage's concentration is rendered with tons of lift and serious clarity. I really love the mineral drive and snap in Heitz-Lochardet's 2016s.
Calling Heitz-Lochardet a new domaine is misleading. Heitz-Lochardet dates back to 1857. In more recent times, the family had contracts with Joseph Drouhin. In 2011, a young Armand Heitz returned to the family’s domaine and they started producing their own wines. As the contracts expired, they took back some very formidable sites, like Chevalier-Montrachet and Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières.
It's really nice to see new talent working with terroir as formidable as Perrières. The 2016 is simply breathtaking. I strongly encourage you to pick up a 3-pack and watch it evolve.

Burghound: "Prominent citrus elements suffuse the markedly floral scents, in particular those of acacia and gardenia, along with nuances of Granny Smith apples. The sleek, intense and stony middle weight flavors possess a sophisticated mouth feel before culminating in a tightly coiled and chiseled finish. This youthfully austere effort is going to require at least some patience."
