Thierry Pillot is one of our favorite white Burgundy producers.
One of the things that I enjoy most about Pillot's wines is the incredible quality that they deliver across the range.
You can find plenty of examples of the incredible work that Pillot is doing throughout his lineup, but we often reach for his two Bourgogne Blancs. Even at this humble level, Pillot's style of sleek elegance and the mineral focus of the wines are made very clear.
I'm very happy to offer Thierry Pillot's Bourgogne Blanc for $36.95 per bottle.
As Burghound writes, “Pillot has definitely been on a roll over the last few vintages.” In 2017, the streak continues in a big way. 2017 is a very strong white Burgundy vintage, but Pillot even transcends the vintage's superlative quality.
The Thierry Pillot label is his small, quality-obsessed negociant project. In 2017, the Bourgogne Blanc is stunning. It delivers finely etched concentration with clear fruits and a snappy mineral backbone of acidity. The clarity, finesse, and verve are really compelling.
I rarely get to offer sub-$40 white Burgundies at this level. In the impressive 2017 vintage, this is something to go deep on. We bought every bottle that was available. Still, I have my doubts that we'll have enough to meet demand.
