Vaucrains is one of the great vineyards of Nuits St. Georges.
It's an imposing wine that's legendary for its ability to age.
Chevillon's has produced the benchmark Vaucrains for decades. Their Vaucrains is sourced from 80-year-old vines that produce a powerful, incredibly deep, mineral, and sauvage wine. Yet, for all of its intensity, Chevillon's Vaucrains is marked by a clarity and precision that only the best Burgundies achieve.
The 2017 really highlights Chevillon's ability to combine muscle with finesse and purity. It has a bone-crushing and brooding structure, but there's also a beautiful transparency and subtle complexity. The brightness and precision are a nice complement to the slightly wild and gripping style.
Chevillon's wines are a pillar of our Burgundy program. He is one of the most reliable producers in all of Burgundy. They are simply bulletproof. They are also some of the most honest, terroir-specific wines I know. Year after year, the Vaucrains is one of our favorites.

Burghound: "Relatively generous wood fights a bit with the otherwise cool and pure aromas of extract of cassis, plum, humus, earth and suggestions of the sauvage. As is usually the case chez Chevillon, this is a very powerful wine with imposing size and weight with fine mid-palate density thanks to the abundant dry extract that also helps to buffer the very firm tannic spine that really emerges on the beautifully long finale.
