Over the years we've learned that a large gulf separates the auction bottlings from the general releases. Countless times, we've opened auction bottlings from our favorite producers and have been floored.

In 2013, Lauer produced insanely precise, pure and tense wines. The auction Kabinett takes all of these qualities and elevates them to a mindbending level. There's a razor cut, electric transparency and super-detailed minerality.
I've drunk a couple of bottles and find myself obsessed with how intricately complicated the wine is while being featherweight. This is one of the most exciting young wines that I've tasted from Germany in some time. I can't wait to watch it evolve for the next ten years and more.
