Salon is a glorious example of just how transparent and just how utterly compelling Chardonnay can be. Mesnil is one of the greatest places to grow Chardonnay. Salon's laser-focused mineral clarity and outrageous finesse are held up as an exemplar of what Mesnil can achieve.
This edition of the 2007 is one of the great examples of the vintage. There's an energy, a chiseled chalk imbued structure, and above all else, a breeding that is singular. All of this is married to a lovely texture richness.
When it comes to aging, Salon can hold its own with the best. Bottles of Salon at 20 or 30 years old can be jaw-droppingly pure, elegant, and incredibly fresh. This late release of the 2007 promises age with incredible poise and grace. Before wrapping up, I should emphasize that quantities are very limited.
