Moët & Chandon takes their domestic tête de cuvée Étoile very seriously, sparing no expense. They have brought Dom Pérignon’s chef de cave, Richard Geoffroy, in to consult. They have increased the time of resting on lees and post-disgorgement aging, an expensive and cash-flow-restricting practice that's almost unheard of at this level.
It's this extra time and overall dedication that endows this sparkler with more depth and presence than you'd expect at this price point.
I'll say this: this bottle is a no-brainer to have around, well-chilled for casual drinking, for an aperitif and yes, for meals.
This is a wine to always have on hand. Buy it in quantity, at the sharpest price in the country.
