"Very fine typicity" -2019 Dauvissat Chablis

Posted by Ian McFadden

Dauvissat's AC Chablis can seem as rare as his Grand Crus.

The explanation is simple: Dauvissat's AC Chablis is one of the greats of the category.

The 2019 is a particularly exciting vintage for this wine.

Dauvissat's 2019s possess an extraordinary amount of power and breeding. It is emphatically mineral. For all of their intensity, they flaunt incredible detail, class, and refinement. The profile is forceful but very classy, delivering floral, saline, and citrus notes with dazzling clarity.

Vincent Dauvissat compares the 2019 to 1989, a vintage where Dauvissat made some amazing wines.

The 2019 is a powerful Chablis with tons of concentration and an incisive and focused core of minerality. There's plenty of punch, presence, and Chablis' sea breeze minerality.

I buy Dauvissat's AC without hesitation whenever I see it. Unfortunately, I don't have the opportunity very often.

Burghound: "Here too there is very fine typicity with its ripe but cool nose of white peach, pear, iodine and pretty floral nuances that also include a whiff of citrus confit. There is equally fine volume to the rich yet well-detailed flavors that flash a lovely mineral streak on the refreshingly dry finale. Good stuff in a robust and powerful style that should repay mid-term aging."
