Wasenhaus Magnum Terroir Study

A rare chance to snap up Wasenhaus magnums.

Wasenhaus is perhaps the first German producer in Baden to garner a truly worldwide cult status.

The reasons are easy enough to understand: incredible clarity, an ultra-fine textural elegance, and with every bottling a profound transparency of soil.

No matter the grape - Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Chardonnay, or Weissburgunder - the wines of Wasenhaus scream of their terroir.

Though you don't have to take our word for it.

Today, we offer an expansive collection of the rare bottlings of Wasenhaus in magnum.

While the collection is broad, the quantities of each bottling are extremely limited. Those interested are well advised to act quickly.

The whites are masterpieces. The Chardonnay Hohlen speaks of its clay/limestone soils; it has a richness yet is firmly shaped. The Chardonnay Filzen is aromatic and bouncy, more airy and energetic. The Am Kreutz is a gneiss vineyard, the parcel they farm here is a field blend of both Chardonnay and Weissburgunder - the wine has a stunning density and fine-ness.

Finally, the Pinot Noirs are two takes on limestone: The Kalk comes from limestone soils north of Wasenhaus; it is incisive and elegant - something of a baby Bellen? Finally, the epic Kanzel, structured and supremely ageworthy.

More details on all of the wines are below; happy hunting!
