"Tim Fröhlich's Schiefergestein is a Best Buy of the vintage. Powerful and long yet with moderate alcohol (12%)." -Stephan Reinhardt
The wines of Schäfer-Fröhlich are some of the best in all of Germany. It's already clear that the 2021s will go down as one of the greatest collections of this elite estate.
The top 2021 Nahe dry wines are simply amazing. They possess an incredible impact and shimmering agility. The mineral cut is incredible.
Today, we're excited to offer Schäfer-Fröhlich's Bockenauer Schiefergestein Trocken for the first time.
The Schiefergestein is sourced from Tim Fröhlich's top site, Bockenauer Felseneck. The Felseneck vineyard produces Riesling of incredible minerality, texture, and finesse.
While the Felseneck GG is a wine of epic force and cut, the Schiefergestein is all about stony nimbleness. We really love the interplay of complex citrus notes and the wine's sleek and slate-y verve. there's plenty of pointed length.
The Schiefergestein is among the top-value dry wines of the great 2021 vintage. Schafer-Frohlich is one of Germany's elite estates and here is a place to witness them in top form at a much lower price point than the GGs.

Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate: "Entirely sourced in the Felseneck, the 2021 Bockenauer Riesling Trocken Schiefergestein offers a fascinating, clear, precise and intense, slate-driven bouquet with crunchy stone and herbal notes. Impressively intense. On the palate, this is a rich and intense, dense and juicy yet also complex and saline, seriously and sustainably structured Bockenauer with a long and intense, very saline finish but also with the generous fruit and juiciness of a great wine. Tim Fröhlich's Schiefergestein is a Best Buy of the vintage. Powerful and long yet with moderate alcohol (12%)."
