"Weightless and Understated"
2008 Vilmart Grand Cellier d'Or MAGNUM
The 2008 Grand Cellier D'Or may very well be the best vintage that we've tasted.
We've thought this since the first time we tasted it, but a magnum that we drank recently really sealed the deal. It was just stunning.
The 2008 vintage is one of the great vintages of the past decade (along with 1996 and 2002) and a personal favorite of ours. We love the combination of brightness and punch.
One of the signatures of Vilmart is how they walk a fine, riveting line - that's what makes the wines so special and so compelling. They manage to deliver a palate-saturating richness that's combined with the utmost elegance and a beautifully tuned harmony. All of this is really heightened in 2008.
The 2008 Grand Cellier d'Or (based on the usual blend of 80% Chard, 20% Pinot) shows the signature fullness of body combined with an incredible clarity, focus and sense of poise. There's a polished, sleek style to the wine as it delivers a gorgeously interwoven mix of minerals, stone fruits and spice.
2008 in Champagne is a vintage to go deep on, especially with a grower with a track record for aging like Vilmart. Magnums only sweeten the deal. We have a very limited quantity of these mags available. At this price, I expect them to disappear very quickly. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
