If your idea of great Pinot Noir is transparency and weightless complexity, then Enderle & Moll's Pinot Noir Liaison is the best buy we know of.
Since we introduced the wines in the 2007 vintage, they've developed a near-fanatical group of fans.
Sadly, quantities are always meager and this will likely be a one-shot deal. We created special 6-pack pricing because you'll want to stock up on the 2017. It's perfectly suited to the warmer months ahead, but the 2017 is a particularly dense and structured vintage for the wine that promises to age well over the next 5-7 years if not more.
For anyone interested in Burgundian Pinot Noir, we can’t recommend this wine enough- it has that same lightness matched to intensity, with the impression of having been filtered through soil.
The “Liaison” is something like Sven Enderle and Florian Moll’s “1er Cru” Pinot Noir. Sourced from vines averaging 50 years old, planted on both sandstone and limestone soils (thus the “Liaison” reference), it is a wine of immense depth yet incredible energy.
The 2017 “Liaison,” perhaps more than any other vintage of recent memory, is a wine to reckon with. This bottle is a knock out. It has a singular focus, a complexity of fruit that runs the gamut from bright strawberry plunging through the color spectrum from crushed red berry to dark berries and cassis. The palate is mouth-coating with herbal complexity and forceful minerality. Yet for all this depth, the wine remains satiny and fine.
For all the acclaim given to Enderle & Moll (even the likes of Jancis Robinson has called them "cult") not much there has changed. They are still farming organically and biodynamically, using an old basket press and aging the wines in used older Dujac barrels. Above all, they are still a small domaine with only around 4 hectares.
Which is to say, while demand has risen, quantities have not. We expect a pretty fast sell out. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
