"Well-balanced, crisp and chiseled"
2018 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Séchet

"Well-balanced, crisp and chiseled" -Burghound

For us, it's one of the unheralded bottles in his lineup.

Séchet is for purists. It’s a bottling that boasts deep cut and a blatant expression of saline minerality. There’s a directness and elegance to Séchet that always impresses us.

The 2018 Séchet flaunts all of these hallmarks. It's a full-force expression of Séchet's mineral thrust.

Vincent Dauvissat compares the vintage to the legendary pair of 1947 and 1959. Like 1947 and 1959, 2018 is a riper vintage. What's extraordinary about Dauvissat's 2018s is how they marry tension and power. It's very clear that Dauvissat nailed the vintage in a way that few others did.

Burghound wisely highlights the 2018 Séchet's "wonderful sense of underlying tension". When you combine the razor's edge mineral expression with punch and presence, the results are dazzling. The power and verve are interwoven in gorgeous harmony.

The 2018 Séchet is seriously impressive. I've devoted a lot of time to tracking this bottle down. Sadly, the quantities available are still pretty modest.

Burghound: "This too possesses fine Chablis typicity with its array of sea breeze and iodine along with the hallmark citrus scents of a classic Séchet. There is a wonderful sense of underlying tension to the mineral-driven middle weight flavors that exhibit slightly better depth and length on the well-balanced, crisp and chiseled finale"
