What a brilliant success!
2014 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Spätlese

Posted by Joe Salamone

Müller produced some of the best 2014s. The general consensus is that the Spätlese is the star.

As a group, Müller's 2014's possess an amazing interplay of density and steely verve. The dramatic, attention-grabbing wines are seamless in their harmony and refinement.

The Spätlese is particularly noteworthy for its gripping presence, detail and poise. David Rayer and Jean Fisch of Mosel Fine Wines write that the 2014 Spätlese "ranks among the classics in this style by the Estate. What a brilliant success!"

We've written so many emails on Müller that belaboring this seems redundant. These are some of the great wines of the world and their track record for aging is second to none. For Müller fans the 2014 Spätlese is a don't miss.

No one manages to combine intensity and a seemingly miraculous weightlessness the way that Müller does. This 2014 Spätlese carries rich stone fruits and floral notes with a dancing minerality, serving as a testament to Müller's magic touch. There's a brilliant thread of stony mineral that carries through to a long, ultra-refined finish.

It's become clear that word has spread about Müller. Landing enough Müller to offer any out these days requires a lot of work. I'm really happy to be able to offer the 2014 Spätlese, but I should warn you that the quantities available are modest.
