"What a wine!" -Antontio Galloni

Oddero's 2018 Brunate represents one of the absolute highlights of the vintage.

Antonio Galloni sums up their success by stating succinctly: "Mariacristina and Isabella Oddero nailed the 2018 vintage."

For the past handful of vintages, Oddero has been in the zone. They've been turning out classically styled Barolos of incredible purity and detail. Their 2018s highlight beyond any doubt that this estate is firing on all cylinders.

Brunate is one of the great sites of Barolo. It's famous for a combination of power and layered, finely-tuned harmony.

For the 2018 vintage, Oddero decided to blend most of their sites into their Barolo normale, including famed ones like Rocche and Villero. Only the legendary Rionda and Brunate will be bottled separately as single vineyards.

This tells you a lot about how selective Oddero was along with Brunate's sheer quality. This is a stunning Barolo. Galloni is spot on when he writes: "What a wine!" The 2018 boasts a clarity of expression, glossy structure, and overall harmony that makes it really stand out as special.

Everything is in place for the 2018 Brunate to age beautifully. It's rare that you find such precision and harmony in a wine. This should not be missed.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "What a delight it is to taste Oddero’s 2018 Barolo Brunate. A glorious wine, the Oddero Brunate is one of the very few wines in this vintage that possesses real mid-palate depth and notable textural intensity. It is the smallest production wine here. I imagine that the slightly smaller cask used for this wine was an advantage in giving the 2018 a bit of extra flesh that is missing in this vintage. What impresses me most about the 2018, though, is its freshness and the primary intensity of the fruit. Iron, smoke, tobacco, dried herbs, chalk and a whole range of savory accents develop over time, rounding things out in style. What a wine!."
