White Burgundy, gone Riesling.
Outside of Chablis, this is one of my favorite white Burgundies. Why? If the answer had to be reduced to one word, it would be "clarity."

De Montille's Cailleret is a wine with all the density and silkiness of great white Burgundy, with all the seductive turns and flowing curves, yet for me it always shows something more... something Riesling-esque: a saturating core of stone, a certain austerity, a reserve that pulls you in to look closer, a super-fine thread of green apple and lime zest.
There is a transparency, an honesty of flavor that reminds me of great Riesling... very few wines outside of Germany, Chablis and Champagne achieve this level of rigor and detail.
Today, we offer out the brilliant 2007 Cailleret only to a small list of two groups of people who I feel should get to know each other better (you have so much in common): White Burgundy lovers and Riesling lovers. Quantities are very limited (we're talking under 3 cases) - so please let us know ASAP if you are interested.
The 2007 is one of the best Caillerets de Montille has produced - it is juicy, superbly balanced, beautifully fresh. The Burghound's full note is below if you'd like more glossy praise.

Burghound: A reserved, even cool but supremely elegant and equally high-toned green fruit and spiced pear nose is in perfect keeping with the precise, intense and racy mineral-infused medium full flavors that possess excellent mid-palate density and the ample dry extract coats the palate and buffers the firm acid spine on the wonderfully long finish. This is classy juice with a really wonderful mouth feel.
