Last weekend, we offered Selosse's Bout du Clos and it was sold out in a matter of hours.
Today, we're happy to offer a small parcel of Selosse Aÿ La Côte Faron.
It is the "OG" of the lieux-dit's lineup. Faron was originally bottled under the Contraste label making it his original Selosse single vineyard wine. It was purchased in 1994. He works a mere 0.23ha.
Aÿ is indisputably one of the great Grand Cru villages of Champagne. This is Pinot country and the wines of Aÿ boast plenty of red-fruited muscle, but above all Aÿ stands out for its class and breeding.
La Côte Faron is a chalky, south-facing vineyard that's very steep by Champagne's standards. This is a dramatic and thrilling expression of Pinot Noir. The long established solera gives Côte Faron incredible depth and complexity while maintaining an energetic, chalky minerality.
His lieux-dits are nothing short of magical. They take the ridiculous resonance, the breadth of complexity, and the finesse that are Selosse's calling cards to the extreme. The Côte Faron may very well lead the pack when it comes to marrying depth and finesse.
Before closing, I need to underscore that this is an extremely limited parcel. We'll likely have to allocate.
