"Wonderful poise and elegance... Excellent."
2023 Mugneret-Gibourg Echézeaux

Mugneret-Gibourg's Echézeaux delivers everything that I could ask for from this Grand Cru.

To be frank, Echézeaux is the third largest Grand Cru, and not everything that's released under its name is up to Grand Cru status. In contrast, Mugneret-Gibourg's is Echézeaux as it should be.

Above all else, Mugneret-Gibourg's Echézeaux is soulful. There's a depth here that you can never quite get your finger on.

The Echézeaux represents one of the high points of Mugneret-Gibourg's 2023 collection. The wine is simply beguiling.

Mugneret-Gibourg's wines are often utterly seductive. The 2023 Echézeaux has appeal to spare. The wine is absolutely velvety with exotic spices, wildflowers, dark soil, and minerals. As we've written before about their Echézeaux, few wines offer the combination of textural elegance and precision or intensity and haunting delicacy.

I was very happy to land this parcel of 2023 Echézeaux. Mugneret-Gibourg's Grand Crus are very difficult to find in any quantity, and the Echézeaux represents an absolute high point of their 2023 collection.

Title

Neal Martin, Vinous Media: "The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from the usual two parcels (farmed by their cousin Pascal Mugneret), and matured in 60% new oak. It has a gorgeous, pure bouquet, perhaps the most floral of the Domaine's nascent 2023s, as the 25% whole bunches impart a slight pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with wonderful poise and elegance, filigree tannins and real transparency on the finish. This will put on a bit of weight by the time of bottling. Excellent."
