"Wonderfully sleek and energetic" - 2017 Roumier Chambolle-Musigny

Posted by Ian McFadden

Roumier's 2017s are beautiful, diamond-cut wines that take purity to the extreme.

The vintage produced some of the most gorgeous examples of Chambolle we've tasted in years.

Even when you stack Roumier's Chambolle up against other top villages Burgundies, you realize that it exists on its own plane.

Every year, I put just as much effort into tracking down Roumier's Chambolle AC as I do his top Grand Crus. That's how sought-after it is.

When you catch the right vintage of Roumier's Chambolle, it comes dangerously close to the Platonic ideal of Chambolle - perfumed, delicate, and with beautiful finesse.

The 2017 Chambolle is a perfect example of this. Burghound's note calls it "very Chambollesque," and that's right on. I really like the wine's pristine expression, finesse, and incredibly precise minerality.

When it comes to aging, Roumier's Chambolle astonishes. Bottles from the early nineties remain amazing. Any time we offer Roumier's Chambolle, it always sells out in a flash. I'd recommend getting your orders in early.

Burghound: "A more elegant and somewhat higher-toned nose reflects notes of various red berries, violet, lavender and once again a whiff of spice nuance. The wonderfully sleek and energetic medium weight flavors possess almost palpable minerality on the saline, balanced and refreshing finale. This too is an excellent example of the genre and very Chambollesque."
