"The wines are certainly among the finest of the region"
- 2016 Weiser-Kunstler Sonnenlay Kabinett Trocken & Steffensberg

Should you find yourself driving up and down the Mosel, this is one of the estates you would hear about from nearly every winemaker.

It's clear both in how people speak of the estate and in the wines themselves that Weiser-Künstler is doing everything right

They are shimmeringly clear and featherweight wines that shock you with their minerality, precision and overall composition.

Their 2016s are luminous and have a gorgeous finesse. Today, we focus on two dry wines from the 2016 collection, the Wolfer Sonnenlay Kabinett Trocken and Enkircher Steffensberg.

Starting with the Sonnenlay Kabinett Trocken, Jean Fisch and David Rayer of Mosel Fine Wines call it "a little jewel of precision." That sums it up nicely. Kabinett Trocken is a really hard style to get right and Weiser-Künstler nails it year after year. This is the first time that a Sonnenlay Kabinett Trocken has been released and it's an incredibly exciting debut. Sonnenlay is a south facing site in a side valley. The 2016 Kabinett Trocken is a study in mineral focus.

Steffensberg is a weathered slate site that's also in a south-facing side valley. It's always possesses a textural dimension that makes it stand out in Weiser-Künstler's line-up. The 2016 edition has intricate and fine signature gripping, slate-y presence.

Before wrapping up, I'll just close by saying that these are wines that always wow me. There's a radiance and grace that's really special. There's no doubt that people share my enthusiasm. A Weiser-Künstler offer is basically a guaranteed sell out.
