1ha - Lapierre in Côte du Py
2016 Lapierre Morgon Cuvée Camille

Posted by Joe Salamone

Like so many others, we love Lapierre's wines. They are joyous wines to be drunk with abandon.

Out of the line-up, it's the Camille that we work hardest to find in quantity.

Ever since Camille's first vintage in 2013, it's a wine that we've bought every bottle available to us. There's something about how Camille combines deliciousness with depth of complexity that made us immediate fans.

Côte du Py is Morgon’s most famous vineyard, and one of Beaujolais’ top sites. And Lapierre renders the site with beautiful aromatics and textural appeal.

Camille lays bare all of the class that Côte du Py is capable of. It delivers the site's spiced, wild cherry signature with captivating detail and vividness.

Lapierre's 2016s exploit the brightness that the vintage can offer in an extraordinary way. I'm sure that many of you have heard that parts of Beaujolais, including Morgon, were decimated by hail. Producers talk about yields being down 60% or even more.

From our tastings of 2016 Morgons, the wines that hit their mark possess a crunchy, soil-inflected minerality. The 2016 Camille is animated by a gorgeous lift.

I'm going to wrap this up. Camille is sourced from a 1ha vineyard, and our small parcel is sure to quickly disappear. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
