2009 Marie-Noëlle Ledru Brut Grand Cru:
Shocking Energy and Lift

Posted by Joe Salamone

Ledru produced beautiful 2009s.

We jumped on the chance to pick up another parcel. Vintage Ledru is very difficult to find - it's rare to see more than a handful of listings for any given vintage of Ledru.

Ledru is famous for producing rivetingly chalky and sternly structured Champagnes and this worked very nicely with the 2009 vintage.

Ledru's 2009 has a serious spine that provides lift and energy, a perfect complement to the vintage's rounded fruit character. There's a beautiful core packed with mineral and zingy notes of ripe citrus along with floral notes.

Many feel that Pinot Noir is the star grape of the 2009 vintage. The majority of Ledru's vines are in Ambonnay, which is some of the greatest terroir for Pinot in all of Champagne. The class and refinement of Ledru's 2009 makes the quality of her holdings clear.

Ledru produces some of the most lovingly made and terroir-expressive Champagnes around. She handles every aspect of production on her own (from the vineyards, to the paperwork, to the cellar where every bottle is hand-disgorged.)

Her holdings are modest and over the years she has developed a very outsized reputation. Every time we offer Ledru it sells out in a flash. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
