2014 & 2015 Weiser-Kunstler Sekt

"These are consistently among the top wines produced anywhere in the Mosel..." -Mosel Fine Wine Review

For many people, Sekt (German sparkling wine) is an afterthought. It's a last refuge for sub-par grapes. I'm sure that you can imagine the general quality level.

Weiser-Kunstler Sekt is something entirely different. It's a méthode champenoise sparkler that's sourced from old vines in the very steep Zeppwingert vineyard, is raised in barrel and receives a very small dosage.

The results are amazing. Like everything that Weiser-Kunstler produces the Sekt has brilliant purity, riveting cut and serious intensity.

Weiser-Kunstler is a tiny 4.2ha domaine with an enormous reputation. We feel very fortunate to be able to offer two vintages of their Sekt: 2014 and 2015.

Both vintages are bright and nimble with a piercing saline minerality. There's also high-toned floral notes and layers of ripe citrus. The 2014 has a beautiful silky texture and the 2015 has the extreme combination of acidity and concentration that defines the vintage.

I'm going to wrap this up. The wine is in such short supply that a sellout is inevitable. I'd encourage you to snap these up. It's doubtful that we'll be offering Weiser-Kunstler's Sekt again anytime soon.
