2017 Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny

Posted by Ian McFadden

I do not get to offer Mugnier very often, and this is the first time that I've been able to offer Mugnier's Chambolle.

Mugnier is one of Burgundy's elite. Few producers hit the level of transparency, fineness, and regal elegance that Mugnier does.

Along with Roumier, Mugnier's Chambolle AC stands out as the villages Chambolle that wildly transcends its humble designation. Mugnier's Chambolle delivers an enormous amount of detail, finesse, and ultra-fine persistence. Mugnier's is an exemplar of the beautiful silken elegance that Chambolle does better than any other place.

When I tasted through Mugnier's 2017s, I was really impressed by their vivid, ample red fruits and their crystalline precision. The 2017 highlights the beauty of Mugnier's Chambolle. It really dramatizes the tightly coiled focus and finesse that are the hallmarks of the wine. The thread of minerality and well-defined aromatics make for a dynamic and deeply impressive wine.

I'm going to wrap this up. Being able to offer Mugnier's Chambolle is a real luxury, and I expect people won't hesitate to buy it. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.

Burghound: "A cool, pretty and airy red berry fruit-suffused nose displays additional background nuances of herbal tea, violet and lavender. There is good vibrancy to the detailed and attractively textured lighter weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the saline, clean and focused finale. This delicious effort should drink well young but age well too though I would note that the green tea aspect of the nose may not be for everyone."
