2017 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Marconnets

The 2017 1er Cru Les Marconnets has a stony core and gentle sauvage quality that is cloaked in a suave layer of dark fruits. It has an earthy minerality that is complemented by an opulent, palate-staining quality that is simply thrilling. There’s no doubt that this wine is a lot of fun to drink. 

Back-Vintage Red Burgundy—Hauntingly Beautiful:
2013 Jouan Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbé

Clos Sorbé is most likely Morey's most heartbreakingly delicate site. It is a devastatingly lacey and mineral expression of red Burgundy.

2022 Hudelot-Noëllat Bourgogne Rouge

For Burgundy lovers seeking value, Hudelot-Noëllat’s Bourgogne Rouge is a godsend.

Under-the-Radar Lafarge:
2010 Lafarge Volnay Vendanges Sélectionnées

Lafarge is a very special producer for me. I love the entire line-up. With all that said, I have a soft spot for the VS. The wine offers such nuance, depth, and finesse for the price.

Mugneret-Gibourg:
From Bourgogne to Clos Vougeot

These are easy wines to become obsessed with. Across the range, the wines are texturally beguiling, transparent, and supremely elegant. Even their Bourgogne Rouge is painfully rare.

Dujac Magic:
2010 Dujac Morey-St-Denis

Generally speaking, Dujac's line-up is amazing in how it respects no boundaries. Dujac makes epic Grand Cru red Burgundies, shockingly good whites, and, as today’s offer drives home, village-level wines that box well above their weight class.

François Bertheau Chambolle & Bonnes Mares

What Bertheau does with this Grand Cru is stunning.

These are some of the most authentic, thoughtful, and often overlooked wines we know. Bize’s wines are such soulful and long-aging expressions of Burgundy that they are “must-buys.”

Supremely Graceful:
2022 Jouan Chambolle-Musigny

Few producers capture the imagination like Jouan. The wines are some of the most mysterious, beautiful, and subtle Burgundies I know.

Grand Cru In All But Name:
2008 Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les St-Georges

We love Chevillon's 2008s, and of course, the Les St-Georges leads the pack. Across the range, they are beautifully clear, and for all of their muscle, they are poised and lifted.

Punching Above Its Weight Class:
2015 & 2016 Bachelet Côte de Nuits-Villages

Bachelet’s top-to-bottom quality is staggering. You can taste at any level, from the Aligoté to his epic Charmes-Chambertin, and be thoroughly impressed.

Domaine Fourrier: 2008-2016

Jean-Marie Fourrier took over his family's domaine in 1994 after working under Henri Jayer. He wasted no time defining his unique style and catapulting his family's domaine into Burgundy's elite tier.

One of Burgundy's best village wines: Back-Vintage Edition:
2014 Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée

It's easy to fall for Mugneret-Gibourg's Vosne. Few wines combine a seductive texture with an ultra-fine and elegant precision.

The Master of Nuits-St-Georges:
2010 Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières

Sub-$30 Red Burgundy:
2022 Trousselle Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune En Cre

It's rare to find this quality in red Burgundy at this price point, and even rarer for it to happen vintage after vintage.

2019 Bertheau Chambolle-Musigny

The way that the 2019 vintage dovetails with Bertheau's style is really amazing. The Chambolle is sleek and refined, but it possesses more punch and velvety texture than you typically encounter in the wine.

2017 Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Les Saint Georges'

Les Saint Georges- a combination of stony limestone and clay soils, is renowned for its impressive structure, muscle, and longevity. In Gouges' hands, this site is totally captivating, simultaneously noble and wild.

The Magic of Dujac:
2021 Domaine Dujac Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru

There's an unmistakeable magic to Dujac's wines.

Drouhin's Chambolle 1er Cru offers a pedigree and elegance that may be unrivaled for the price.

The 2022 promises to be an absolutely lovely example of Jouan's Morey. The vintage produced beautifully expressive Burgundies with a shocking amount of lift.  All of the elements are in place for a not to be missed vintage of the Morey bottling.
