While it may not have the same name recognition as Wehlener Sonnenuhr or Bernkasteler Doctor, many German wine fanatics place Ellergrub among the best in the Middle Mosel.
Weiser-Künstler's steeply terraced parcel in Ellergrub is home to hundred year old ungrafted vines. Their Ellergrub Kabinett, mainly sourced mainly from these ancient vines, is perennially one of our favorites in all of Germany.

"The 2019er Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling Kabinett was made from fruit harvested on largely un-grafted vines still trained on single pole, and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (45 g/l). It offers a beautifully creamy and ripe nose of whipped almond cream, yellow peach, pear, pineapple, some earthy spices, cardamom, and violet. Ripe fruits add to the sensation of smoothness and richness on the juicy but sweet palate. However, a kick of zesty acidity gives cut and precision to the finish. This “big” wine by Kabinett standards truly shines through its flavorsome precision in the delicately tart and very persistent aftertaste. This gorgeous fruity-styled wine only needs a few years of patience in order to fully shine."
