I've always felt that Nuits was one of the most successful places of the 2017 vintage. Gouges' 2017s show him in top form, especially the Les Saint Georges.
While the 2017 Les Saint Georges is endowed with the powerful, savage character that we’ve come to expect from the site, there’s a beautifully radiant expression of dark fruits and earth-saturated minerality. The palate is wildly textural and ends with an explosive, lengthy finish. Overall, it shows incredible finesse, clarity, and architecture.
Gouges is one of the legendary producers of Nuits-Saint-Georges. If you've tasted Gouges from the ‘70s and ‘80s, you know the incredible heights the wines can reach.
Almost without fail, Gouges' Les Saint Georges is the best of the line-up. The 2017 offers a snapshot of the wine firing on all cylinders.
