Bachelet's Côte de Nuits is always one of the sweet spots in his impressive line-up.
Typically, Côte de Nuits can be characterful, but also rugged and rustic. Bachelet takes the appellation to a nearly unimaginable level of textural elegance and ageability.
The 2019 is on another level. As quoted by Burghound, I really like Denis Bachelet's summary of his wines: "there are a number of aspects to admire but perhaps their strongest attribute is the perfect balance. The wines are also beautifully transparent to the underlying terroir."
The Côte de Nuits is above all about a stony minerality. The 2019 takes the stony core and builds a subtle soil inflected minerality that's rendering with incredible precision. There are ultra-clear layers of red fruits and a beautiful textural elegance.
I'm going to wrap this up. Bachelet has a huge following and word is out on his 2019s. I expect our modest parcel to disappear quickly.

Burghound:
"Here the expressive nose isn't quite as ripe with even fresher aromas of red and dark cherry, anise, newly turned earth and a whiff of the sauvage. The sleeker if perhaps not quite as rich medium-bodied flavors retain a lovely sense of detail and vibrancy, all wrapped in a beautifully textured and lingering finish. This lightly stony effort will need to add depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range"
