Lafon's wines have quickly become some of our favorite white Burgundies.
While there's no way around the fact that Lafon's wines can hit high price points, it's not true that encountering Lafon's mastery comes at a cost. Today, we drive this point home in a big way.
Today, I'm happy to offer Domique Lafon's 2022 Bourgogne Blanc for $43.95 per bottle.
The 2022 Bourgogne is laser-sharp with a nice depth of complexity. There's incredible silky finesse with a blazing, etched minerality. The wine definitely delivers a lot for its category.
I've held Dominique Lafon's Bourgogne Blanc in high regard since the first time I tasted it. However, my opinion of the wine was elevated even further last fall when we opened a 2014 that showed beautifully. In any vintage, the wine's architecture is shockingly rigorous.
The Dominique Lafon label was created in 2008 to allow Dominique greater freedom than he felt he had at the family domaine, Comtes Lafon. It mainly utilizes 4.5ha of owned or leased vineyards. The wines of the Dominique Lafon label really amplify the stylistic change towards more tension and sleek elegance that can be seen in the Comtes Lafon wines. The wines have a shorter elevage and are largely sourced from cooler, upper sections of the vineyards.
I'm very happy to offer this relatively accessible Lafon. Dominique is one of the masters of white Burgundy.
