"A striking combination of power and finesse" -
2014 Jamet Côte-Rôtie

Posted by Joe Salamone

There's not much that needs to be said about Jamet. The Jamet family has long been the benchmark for traditional Côte-Rôtie.

The heights that Jamet's Côte-Rôties reach have few peers in the entire Northern Rhône. They are amazingly elegant, precise and clear.

The 2014 Côte-Rôtie is a striking example, boasting an incredible amount of finesse, clarity and textural appeal.

Jamet’s Côte-Rôtie hits a level of gracefulness and agility that’s reminiscent of Burgundy. This is Côte-Rôtie in full glory, flaunting a poise and detailed expression of minerals, herbs, spice, savory elements and florality. The aromatics simply soar.

The 2014 is a powerful, layered and incredibly refined vintage for the wine. There's density and lift. It offers a staining dark mineral imprint with a wide spectrum of floral, spice and bright and dark fruits. The way that it works on a grand scale, but still has such energy and cut is really impressive.

Jamet is one of the pillars of our Northern Rhône program. In 2014, we have significantly less wine than in previous vintages. We don't expect this modest parcel to last very long.

2014 Jamet Côte-Rôtie

Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media: "Brilliant violet. A heady, expansive bouquet evokes black raspberry and mulberry preserves, incense, potpourri and smoky minerals. Concentrated, palate-staining red and dark berry liqueur flavors are energized by vibrant mineral and spice qualities that gain strength with air. Delivers a striking combination of power and finesse, with no rough edges. Closes on a subtle tannic note, with outstanding focus and mineral cut, leaving a juicy red berry note behind."
