A Study In Balance
2014 Colin-Morey St. Aubin Le Banc

Posted by Ian McFadden

Colin-Morey produced a stunning cast of 2014s. Sadly, today marks the end of the road for our PYCM offers. It's seems fitting to wrap up our PYCM offerings with a St. Aubin. Even though Colin-Morey has plenty of heavy-hitting sites (Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, etc.), it wouldn't be out of line to say that his St. Aubins are the domaine's defining wines.

I can't remember a vintage in the past decade that has been met with as much anticipation as 2014. The wines have such clarity and punch that when you taste them, it's obvious that 2014 is an important vintage. The wines are the total package of vibrancy, concentration and refined harmony.

No one manages to combine intensity and purity to the same degree as Pierre-Yves Colin. His 2014s flaunt this skill. Above all else, the 2014 Le Banc is about balance. It's seductively textural and flamboyant while maintaining amazing tension and minerality. It's the type of feat that only he could pull off. It feeds the pleasure principle and then, hits you with a cut that pulls the rug out from underneath you.

This is the most thrilling example of Le Banc that I've tasted. I'm very happy to offer. As with all of our Colin-Morey offers, I advise you to jump on this. The wines always disappear quickly.
