"An early candidate for best wine of the vintage."
- 2012 Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino

Poggio di Sotto's Brunellos are some of the most loved and soulful Brunellos.

Any conversation about Poggio di Sotto always turns to how much class and subtlety they bring to the table. For all of their might, Poggio di Sotto is always defined by its finesse.

The 2012 vintage in Brunello is positioned to be one of the most important ones of the past couple decades. Think of a riper 2010 and you get a good idea of what 2012 holds in store.

These are intensely concentrated and structured Brunello's that almost magically avoid becoming extreme in anyway. There's power, clarity and an aristocratic elegance.

Poggio di Sotto harnessed the 2012 to craft a soaring and precise Brunello. It has explosive aromatics of flowers, incense and spice. Overall, the clarity, harmony and scale are amazing.

We're very selective with the Brunellos that we offer and Poggio di Sotto is one of our go-to producers. Often, we find that Brunellos trade the elegance and haunting aromatics that Brunello is capable of delivering for raw, high-octane power. Poggio di Sotto really drives home that Brunello is, above all, a wine of grace and subtle complexity. The 2012 is a great example.
