"Built on a core of pure energy" -
2010 Pierre Peters L'Espirit

Posted by Ian McFadden

It’s no secret that Rodolphe Peters is one of the top growers in all of Champagne.

Peters’ mastery of the Côte des Blancs is nearly unparalleled - the wines flaunt incredible refinement, singularity and mineral-inflected elegance.

The 2010 L'Esprit is a perfect summary of what's so riveting about Pierre Peters. Our offer last October sold out quickly. When we had the opportunity to pick up another parcel, we jumped on it.

2010 was a vintage of remarkable freshness and purity - exactly the sort of vintage where Pierre Peters’ style flourishes. Antonio Galloni sums up the 2010 nicely: “A bright, crystalline Champagne, the Brut L'Esprit de 2010 is built on a core of pure energy. This is an especially weightless, tense style for the Esprit.”

L’Esprit is only made in top vintages, and it's sourced from four single vineyards in the Grand Crus of Le Mesnil, Avize, Cramant and Oger. In any given vintage the blend is at least 40% Le Mesnil, which accounts for the wine’s racy finesse and finely detailed minerality.

Peters' wines often demand time in the cellar to show their full glory, and with age, they reveal an extra layer of complexity and fascination. The 2010 L’Esprit is a wine we expect to transform beautifully.

As is usually the case with wines this special, there’s not much to go around. Please give us your ideal order and we’ll do our best.
