Collin Blanc de Blancs Les Roises Extra Brut (2012 Base)

Posted by Ian McFadden

It's impossible not to take notice of Ulysse Collin's Champagnes, especially the recent releases.

They can nearly overwhelm the senses with their multi-dimensional complexity that seems to hit you from every angle.

We love Collin's entire line-up, but there's something special about Les Roises.

Compared to Collin's other Blanc de Blancs, Les Pierrières, Les Roises is expansive, working on an extremely complicated grandeur of scale.

Les Roises comes from 60 year old vines on clay-rich soils. What makes it so compelling is how its incredible breadth and depth are married to tension and rigorous detail. The combination is thrilling.

There’s texture, finesse and outstanding length, with a persistent, mineral-driven finish. Expect an impressive spectrum of flavors--from layers of vibrant citrus and stone fruits to notes of soil, smoke and slate.

2012 is a powerful, concentrated, and high acid vintage. The Roises from 2012 is intense with penetrating minerality, showing an extreme clarity of expression.

Antonio Galloni calls Collin's wines, "Some of the most compelling wines being made in Champagne today." The wines of Ulysses Collin are undoubtedly some of the most mesmerizing and profound emerging from the region.
