Simply put, François Cotat's Rosé has a cult following.
This is one of the most compelling examples of what rosé wine is capable of.
Cotat's Rosé comes from a minuscule 0.4 ha parcel of Pinot Noir in the famed village of Chavignol. It probably goes without saying that finding François Cotat's Rosé in quantity is very difficult.
For many rosés, there's a race to drink them within the first year of release. In contrast, Cotat's is in prime form after 6-10 years of age.
Chavignol’s terroir is unique within Sancerre. It’s defined by its Kimmeridgian soil - the very same soil that’s found in the best sites in Chablis. It imbues the wine with a Chablis-like minerality and its incredible aging potential. As it ages, Cotat's Rosé becomes all about a sleek, chalky, and simply thrilling stoniness.
The 2019 hits a very nice equilibrium between weight and elegance. There's plenty of mineral-laden power to the wine's floral tinged cherry fruit profile. It possesses a very nice tactile grip and tension.
Any time that we offer Cotat's Rosé, it sells out quickly. There's little doubt that this offer will be gone in a flash. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
