In 2023, I named the 2020 Côte-Rôtie my wine of the year. What makes Jamet's 2020 so exciting is how it combines a rich, layered power with great purity and detail. It's a finely calibrated powerhouse that is jam-packed with complexity and somehow incredibly harmonious. Above all else, there's a real sense that the underlying architecture of the wine will allow it to age beautifully.
In the 2021 vintage, you have a Côte-Rôtie that's structured, mineral, and has a vibrant core of acidity. Here is Côte-Rôtie in unmediated glory, boasting a poised and detailed expression of minerality, herbs, spice, savory elements, and florality. The aromatics simply soar. The 2021 reminds us why we love Jamet in high-acid vintages.
Jamet's Côte-Rôties are some of the most finessed and greatest expressions of Syrah anywhere. Not much more needs to be said.
