The 1989 vintage is the middle child of the holy trinity of 1988, 1989 and 1990. Like many Champagne lovers, I feel that Krug over-performed in this wonderful vintage.
Their 1989 is outrageously good. This is a vintage where picking up magnums is totally the move. All of these Collection magnums were recently procured directly from Krug. Krug Collection mags are always micro-releases that quickly disappear from the market and increase in price accordingly.
Krug's legendary style is about combining soaring power with impeccable finesse. It found a perfect expression with the 1989 vintage. It’s in a beautiful state of development, displaying notes of roasted nuts, caramel, spices and citrus peel. All of this comes across with an ultra-fine and regal presentation.
Catching vintage Krug in its drinking window is one of wine's ultimate experiences and as we all know, magnums are the ideal format for Champagne. Very happy to offer.
