Few wines are hunted down like Envínate. At this point when we offer Envínate, we expect a quick sell out.
It's very easy to understand the excitement around these wines. They offer up honest, terroir stamped purity, and in the case of the Albahra and Benje bottlings, value that's seriously hard to compete with.
Today we're happy to offer Envínate's 2021 Benje Tinto and Albahra. This is a beautiful vintage for the wines combining concentration with plenty of freshness.
The Benje Tinto comes mainly from Listan Prieto in old and ungrafted vineyards at an elevation of 1,000 meters. The wine very much carries the imprint of the sandy volcanic soils that it's grown in.
The 2021 Benje Tinto makes for delightful drinking. There's a snappy and soaring wildness to it. You get an incredible procession of spice, flowers, bright red fruits, and herbs. The thread of volcanic minerality gives the wine a pleasing finesse and there is plenty of textural appeal.
Not to be overlooked is Albahra from Almansa. It is based on Garnacha Tintorera - also known as Alicante Bouschet - and Moravia Agria - a rare, high-acid grape. What results is wine that is deeper and more robust, with fascinating textures and aromatics. It has absolutely gulp-able drinkability.
The adventurous team behind Evinate is producing some of the most intricate and terroir-soaked wines in all of Spain. These two wines are really appealing examples of their winemaking. They are not to be missed!
