Hermitage Greatness Meets Value:
2015 Chave Hermitage Farconnet

Posted by Ian McFadden

For the ultimate combination of prestige and value, we turn to Chave’s Hermitage Farconnet.

Chave’s regular Hermitage bottling is one of the greatest wines from the northern Rhone and currently sells for hundreds of dollars per bottle. The Hermitage Farconnet, which is part of Chave’s negociant label, maintains every bit of Chave’s exacting standards but costs just a fraction of the price.

And in a vintage as monumental as 2015, the quality reaches new heights. The value here is jaw-dropping.

Today, we’re happy to offer Chave’s 2015 Hermitage Farconnet for $69.95 per bottle.

The fruit for Farconnet is meticulously selected from three different parcels: Diognières, Péleat, and Greffieux, and Chave’s legendary blending skills are on clear display. The wine offers equal parts intensity and finesse, and a layered, nuanced expression of Hermitage. One of the things that I appreciate about Farconnet is that while it ages beautifully, it also drinks really well with 5-10 years of age.

The 2015 northern Rhône vintage is one of the greatest vintages of the past few decades. The wines are endowed with soaring dynamic energy, power, and complexity - qualities that are easily felt in the 2015 Farconnet. It's one of the great Farconnet vintages that we've tasted.

Chave has long been a pillar at Crush, and we frequently extol his winemaking skill. But the 2015 Hermitage Farconnet provides one of the clearest and most attainable examples of his mastery. Simply put, quality and value this good rarely meet. We encourage you to take advantage while you can.
