Willi Schaefer's Spätlese #5 represents one of the high points of the vintage.

Schaefer's 2018s are absolutely stunning. They leap out as among the best examples of the vintage. Generally speaking, 2018 was a ripe vintage. It took considerable skill to maintain the Mosel's typical finesse and steely spine. Schaefer nailed the vintage in this regard.
Along with richly complex notes of spice, stone fruits, and floral notes, you can expect Schaefer's verve and fine-ness along with serene precision. The combination is really, really compelling.
The Spätlese #5 is a bottle that's wowed us since release and one that we repurchase at every opportunity. It's a beautiful example of Schaefer's steely, finessed, and build-to-age style.
