Mesnil produces absolutely magical Chardonnay and Selosse's Carelles takes it to a singular and utterly compelling level.

The wine has an astonishing resonance and finesse. Carelles works on an epic scale with an incredible nuance and refinement.

All of Selosse's lieux-dits are breathtakingly original and utterly compelling. With that said, I have a real soft spot for Carelles.

In some ways Carelles is a really unusual expression of Mesnil. It has a richness that people don't generally associate with Mesnil - it's as much a sign of Selosse's distinctive style as it is a testament to his ultra-conscientious work in the vineyards.

That's only part of the story. Selosse's parcel in Mesnil is incredibly chalky. For all of the wine's breadth, there's a distinctive chalky minerality and super-refined and precise kinetic energy.

There's no doubt that Carelles is one of the most thought-provoking wines out there. There is an outrageous spectrum and multi-dimensional presentation.

Finding Selosse's lieux-dits in quantity is always difficult. Carelles is one of the most sought after, making it even more difficult. Judging by our recent offer of Bout du Clos that sold out in flash, this will not stick around. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
