You’ll have a hard time finding a better value in all of Burgundy. Jouan’s Morey St. Denis has always been one of our favorites.
Simply put, Jouan's wines are special. His wines are some of the most mysterious, beautiful, and subtle Burgundies I know.
The Morey St. Denis, which comes from three lieux-dits, Crais Gillon, Corvées, and Le Village, really thrived in the 2018 vintage. In this warm vintage, the Morey assembles a cast of aromatics that leap out of the glass - spice, dark fruits, violets, earth, etc. It has a lovely combination of seductive texture and punch.
The vintage took the Morey to a really impressive level. At the same time that it has more power and concentration, you get increased depth, mystery, and finesse. I suggest that you pick up at least a few bottles. When you factor in what it delivers for the price, this is a don't miss Jouan.
