"Lovely" - 2015 Bachelet Côte de Nuits - Villages

Posted by Ian McFadden

Bachelet’s top-to-bottom quality is staggering.

You can taste at any level, from the Aligoté to his epic Charmes-Chambertin and be thoroughly impressed.

For me, the greatest value is a good vintage of Bachelet's Côte de Nuits Villages. It sums up everything that I love about the estate - it's authentic, soulful and deeply complex.

Bachelet's Côte de Nuits Villages always stands out for its deep structure; it's extremely complex with soil tones, spice and lifted notes of smoke and red fruits. The 2015 has a soaring intensity and even for this perennial overachiever, it shows surprising class. It has serious freshness and length.

For a domaine that commands such a broad fan base, Bachelet's estate is disproportionately small, just under 4 ha. Their Côte de Nuits Villages is sourced from a mere .37 ha. As you can imagine, availability is simply painful, especially in a sought-after vintage like 2015.

The 2015 Bachelet’s Côte de Nuits Villages is a really compelling example of the domaine’s ability to transcend all designations and expectations. This is a don't miss bottle. Our advice is to not sleep on this. It will disappear quickly.
