Each vintage, we amass as much of Foillard's Côte du Py as we can get. It's never enough.
At this point, Foillard doesn't need much of an introduction. His Côte du Py is as pure and captivating as Beaujolais gets.
Côte du Py is one of Beaujolais' great vineyards. Foillard is undoubtedly a master of the site. It's likely that no one renders it with equal clarity, complexity or textural beauty. Foillard's Côte du Py captures the wild cherry, mineral, and floral-tinged quality of the vineyard in an unparalled way.
2015 was a riper vintage in Beaujolais. You can think about 2015 as riper than 2014 and fresher than 2009. It's a powerful, layered vintage with an invigorating backbone.
The vintage allowed Foillard to produce a layered and powerful Côte du Py with a vibrant, driving core. There's a lovely balance between richness and energy. And there's an underlying structure that pulls everything into harmony as it carries a stony minerality, earth and tea notes across the palate.
I'm going to bring this to a close. Foillard has achieved a level of fame that not much more has to be said. The 2015 is worth going fairly deep on and tracking for the next 5-7 years plus. We created special pricing on 6-packs for that reason. It's also difficult to keep from drinking young. Stock up.
