"Magnificent Energy" - 2010 Vilmart Grand Cellier Rubis Rosé

“Vilmart's 2010 Grand Cellier Rubis is superb.” - Antonio Galloni

For us, there's not a genre of wine that's more difficult than Rosé Champagne. And Vilmart is among the very few that nails it every time.

Vilmart's Grand Cellier Rubis works on a multitude of registers and integrates them with near perfect harmony. There's richness, intensity, razor sharp cut and supreme elegance. It's easily one of the best Rosé Champagnes.

The 2010 Grand Cellier Rubis Rose is brilliant. 2010 was full of challenges for Champagne producers, but you'd never guess that tasting the Grand Cellier Rubis. Even when judged against top vintages, the 2010 is an astounding success. Antonio Galloni sums it up well when he writes, “brisk and steely, the 2010 boasts magnificent energy and tons of pure, mineral-driven cut….an especially airy, weightless Rosé built on energy and tension.”

The Grand Cellier Rubis Rosé is made in the saignée method, meaning the color comes from the skins, not the addition of red wine. However, to maintain finesse, Vilmart’s Laurent Champs blends 40% of Chardonnay. The result is richness with sleek elegance, a stern mineral backbone, and a beautifully integrated silky texture.

I'm very happy to offer the 2010 Grand Cellier Rubis Rosé at such sharp pricing. This is a vintage of the wine that I'm completely enamored with. I should mention that typical production is a mere 2,000 bottles. We never see a lot of it. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.

2010 Vilmart Grand Cellier Rubis

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "Vilmart's 2010 Grand Cellier Rubis is superb. Classically austere - in the best sense of the word - brisk, and steely, the 2010 boasts magnificent energy and tons of pure, mineral-driven cut. Readers who enjoy focused Champagnes will adore the 2010. A host of cranberry, blood orange, mint and cinnamon are some of the signatures. This is an especially airy, weightless Rosé built on energy and tension. The 2010 could use another 6-12 months to unwind, but it is pretty impressive, even today. The Grand Cellier Rubis is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Disgorged: September 2014. Dosage is 8 grams per liter."
