“Christophe Mignon might very well be the finest grower in Champagne most people have not heard about” - Antonio Galloni
Relative obscurity has its privileges. Mignon produces some of the greatest values in Champagne.
Mignon has a magic touch with Meunier. The grape rarely gets more nuanced, refined, and so wonderfully elegant. Considering the pricing for top examples of the grape by Prevost and Chartogne-Taillet, this is Meunier mastery for a song.
It's been over two years since our last Mignon offering. When we tasted the current release of their Brut Nature, it blew us away.
Mignon’s area of the Vallée de la Marne is renowned for producing some of the greatest expressions of the grape. South of the Marne river, the area is dominated by deep clay and chalky Tuffeaux soils. Mignon's incredibly conscientious winemaking captures the terroir with clarity and riveting precision.
Mignon follows painstaking farming practices. They've been nicknamed the “Mignon Method” because he refuses to be restricted by the rules of a single farming method. Instead, Mignon employs a combination of biodynamics, phytotherapy, homeopathy and geobiology to achieve the greatest possible health for his vineyards—and the greatest possible wines.
It's rare to find Champagne this carefully crafted with such purity and complexity for the price. We suggest that you stock up on this. It will become your go-to Champagne.
