Clos des Mouches Blanc is famous for its depth, nuance, and multifaceted complexity.
It's one of those wines that can catch you off guard if you don't know what to expect.
It's a shockingly impressive wine. I've been to many dinners where bottles of Clos des Mouches had no trouble going head-to-head with Grand Crus.
Drouhin's Clos des Mouches is an expectation-defying wine beloved by Burgundy insiders. On paper, it's a Beaune 1er Cru and nothing to get excited about. In actuality, Mouches boasts complexity and longevity that rival Grand Crus. Burghound’s Allen Meadows has raved about the 1945 and 1949 vintages at around forty years of age.
Once initiated, it comes as no surprise that this prime mid-slope vineyard was one of the first purchases of Maurice Drouhin when he essentially established domaine bottlings in the 1920s.
The 2022 Clos Mouches Blanc offers a finely judged balance of silky mineral-tinged fruit and cut. It's a really exciting and irresistible wine.
The beauty of Clos des Mouches is the way that it combines accessibility with ageability, serious mineral intricacy, and a suave, easygoing, drinkable nature.
I feel fortunate to offer the 2022 Clos des Mouches Blanc at very sharp pricing. Mouches Blanc is one of the wines that I'm always excited to drink, cellar, and offer.
