Pierre Peters Rarity - Reserve Oubliée NV

Posted by Ian McFadden

Pierre Peters' Oubliée is one of the most elusive wines from one of the most loved producers in all of Champagne.

I was shocked when I finally had enough Oubliée for a small offer. It felt like a major coup. Please be warned, this will be one of those offers that sells out in a matter of hours.

Pierre Peters has a nearly unparalleled mastery of the Côte des Blancs - the wines flaunt incredible refinement and mineral-inflected elegance. The Oubliée shows a fascinating side of Peters' style. In short, it represents the marriage of deep, savory complexity with zingy and chalky energy.

Oubliée comes from the same perpetual cuvée, which dates back to 1998, as the Cuvée de Réserve. Where Oubliée differs is that it ages longer on the lees. This creates a very distinctive wine compared to the Cuvée de Réserve.

Peters' Oubliée is textural and razor sharp. And it combines these two contrasting elements with beautiful harmony. It shows notes of mushrooms, bruised herbs, spice and saline minerality, plus citrus and high-toned floral notes. The thrill of Oubliée is in how it displays a mature complexity, an explosive midpalate and a light-on-its-feet persistence.

This is one of the most fascinating wines in Peters' line-up. From the first time that I tasted Oubliée, I've been hunting for it. This is very much worth checking out. Please give us your ideal order and we’ll do our best.
