Collins makes some of the most breathtakingly unique wines in all of Champagne.
We love his wines for their fascinating depth of complexity, incredible intensity, and sheer beauty.
One of our favorite wines from Collin, the Rosé de Saignée, is also his most rare. There is a painfully small amount of it in the U.S., but we’re happy to be able to offer it today to a select group of Champagne lovers.
The Rosé de Saignée (2014 base) is simply jaw-dropping. As Antonio Galloni so aptly put it, this wine “will leave readers week at the knees.” It has mind-boggling complexity and profound depth. It weaves together a kaleidoscope of flavors that seem to constantly evolve: deep red fruits, earth, herbs, and fine minerality. The intensity of the aromatics is striking.
Collin made his first Rosé de Saignée in 2011 and it was a wine of such intensity that it took a good amount of time to really wrap your head around. The subsequent vintages have been friendlier and more accessible, while maintaining much of their complexity. Collin’s rosé is becoming more finessed and refined with each vintage.
The ability to produce such a profound Rosé de Saignée, an extremely hard wine to make well, is a serious testament to Collin’s winemaking ability. Galloni is right: “the Rosé de Saignée Les Maillons is a must-have wine.”
