Magnums of Métras are always hard to find. In 2015, it's really ugly.
We're really happy to offer up this small parcel of Métras Fleurie VV and Moulin-à-Vent VV Magnums.
We should set expectations right away. There's very little available. We could only imagine offering this on a very quiet holiday weekend.

2015 in Beaujolais was warm and dry, which, along with winds, decreased yields significantly.
There's an incredible amount of excitement over the 2015 vintage. An easy way to think about 2015 is that the wines are riper than the 2014s and fresher than the 2009s. The 2015s offer intense power and concentration with a bright, invigorating backbone.
Métras is well known for an extra-dimension of complexity and textural intrigue that makes the wines stand alone. Vintages like 2015 take this to the extreme, delivering saturating dark fruits, spice and an ultra-suave texture.
In Fleurie, Métras farms the Grille-Midi and La Madone: both are top sites in prime, steep climats. The vines range from 70-100 years of age. Its signature is gorgeous perfume, violets, purple fruits and crushed rock.
In 2006, Yvon Métras purchased a mere 0.6ha of Moulin-à-Vent near his home, making it an even rarer wine than the Fleurie. Moulin-à-Vent is commonly considered the King of Beaujolais, known for being the longest lived and one of the most complex Crus. Métras' expression of MaV seems to be influenced by Fleurie. There's muscle and a very distinctive MaV iron-tinged minerality, but also a delicate grace.
