At this point, Keller is recognized as one of the greatest winemakers in the world. Try finding his Grosses Gewächs and it becomes clear that the world has taken notice.

Today's offer for the 2012 Kirchspiel GG serves to illustrate how rare they've become. There are only five listings for any vintage of Kirchspiel GG in the U.S. It's also worth pointing out that this is the lowest price out there.

When the 2012 GGs were first released, we were still able to land decent quantities of the wines. We drank them with abandon. Keller's 2012s blew us away. They are dense and sculpted while also being detailed, tense, and elegant. It was the sort of magic that only Keller could pull off. The 2012s have aged beautifully over the years.

Kirschspiel is always, first and foremost, about minerality. In 2012, this minerality is delivered with a gorgeous purity. There's a razor cut, serious presence, and playfulness. 2012 was the latest harvest at Keller since 2004. You sense the success of the vintage (and the late harvest) in the tensile depth of the wines.

Before wrapping up, I should mention that the quantities are really modest. It's been many years since we've been able to offer Keller's GGs. I'm confident that these bottles will disappear.
